From Physical World to Cyber Space: Understanding the Essence of the Blockchain Technology
Abstract：This speech attempts to introduce the Blockchain technology with a deep level of discussions about the fundamental or philosophical issues related to the technology. We will take a look at the technology from multiple perspectives to try to come up with a clear and essential understanding: whether the Blockchain technology is much ado about nothing - just another hype, or it is the future of IT which has the potential to transform how we live our lives and how we do businesses globally.

Brief Introduction: Dr. Zhang Ruidong, received his Ph.D. from University of Nebraska - Lincoln in the areas of Information Systems and Computer Science, is currently a tenured professor in Computer and information systems at University of Wisconsin -Eau Claire in USA. He was the president of the International Chinese Information Systems Association from 2014 to 2015. His research interests include cloud service architecture and optimization，enterprise LAN and domain server administration，e-commerce and Internet finance，and emerging information technology. His research has published in top international academic journals including Communications of ACM and Journal of Computer Information Systems.
